We served spam chow mein and rum glazed ham with Hawaiian Rolls. I planned for 120 servings, it was not enough. The chow mein was chicken flavored ramen noodles, sauteed onions, cubed spam, and a couple of the seasoning packets.

Story:  The first time I went to Tiki Oasis in 2018, I saw flyers posted everywhere and thought it was so cool people were throwing themed parties. I thought it would be fun to host one. So I started brainstorming what type of party would I like to throw. I knew it had to involve rum ham from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia because there’s rum everywhere at TO. I also wanted to finally make the Spam Mai Tai recipe I saved from the UrbanDaddy website. https://www.urbandaddy.com/articles/40417/labor-day-cocktails-spamai-tai In 2021, I was able to secure a room on site but couldn’t keep it. I thought I wasn’t going to be able to have my party but Boyd Christensen was letting people use his suite for parties, so I jumped on the chance. I figured I could use the money saved to buy more food and drinks. When entering the party, everyone was to get an egg-shaped piece of paper with a Hydrant drink packet attached, then move to the photo area to get an instant sticker photo framed with “I got hammered at Tiki Oasis”, then go outside to eat and drink. I did not have enough people to assist at the beginning of the party so most of the party process didn’t get done. People were having a good time and enjoying themselves, so I tried to just relax and go with the flow.  I was happy that there were people who understood the subtle It’s Always in Sunny in Philadelphia references. 

• Rum Ham is from an episode where the main characters go to Atlantic City and Frank, Danny DeVito’s character, decides to bring a ham he had soaked in rum on the trip so he can eat and get drunk on the beach at the same time 

• The drink packet egg is from Frank attempting to give an egg during a failed date and saying, “Can I offer you a nice egg in this trying time?”

• Tip box being called Troll Toll is from The Nightman Cometh musical where the line is “You gotta pay the troll toll to get into the boy’s soul”

• My dress was from the scene where Frank and Mac fall asleep in the ocean and wake up to see the ham has floated away. I sewed the dress and ham applique.
